When an Ohio man’s work sends him to Michigan, he always stops at a local grocery store to buy a lottery ticket.

That tradition paid off big time, according to the Michigan Lottery.

The 32-year-old man bought his winning Triple Million instant ticket at Gerth’s Beef & Deli in Temperance, according to a Sept. 8 news release.

“I scratched the ticket when I got in my car and went numb when I saw I won $1 million,” he told lottery officials. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!”

He recently went to claim his big prize, where he was given two options: a one-time payment of about $693,000 or 30 annual payments for the full amount.

He chose the lump sum payment, officials said.

Now the man plans to invest in real estate, according to the news release.

Temperance is about 55 miles southwest of Detroit.
