A child and two adults were injured after gunfire broke out at a youth football game at a California high school, officials said.

Officers responded to a shooting that happened just after 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Oakland city council member Sheng Thao said “a gunman opened fire wounding at least 3” at Oakland Tech High School “during a pee wee football game.”

“These cowardly acts of violence are not tolerable and should not be tolerated!” she wrote on Facebook. “We must continue to crack down on ghost guns, gun traffickers and criminals who terrorize our community by resorting to gun violence.”

When officers arrived, they found the three victims, including a child. All were taken to hospitals and are in stable condition.

The game involved a team from Oakland vs. a traveling team from Fresno, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The shooting was not related to the game, police told the Chronicle.

Police said the incident remains investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 510-238-3426.
