Man flees with 21 bottles of wine stolen from California grocery store, cops say
A man accused of stealing 21 bottles of wine from a grocery store in California was arrested, officials said.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, the Mill Valley Police Department said in a news release.
After the suspect stole the wine from a grocery store, an officer spotted the man’s car on Shoreline Highway on Tuesday, July 26, police said. To avoid the officer, the man then drove into oncoming traffic at a “high rate of speed.”
The officer decided not to pursue the driver, but a different officer later found the car “hidden in a driveway” at a residence the man did not live in, police said.
The 21 bottles of wine and drugs were recovered, according to officials.
Police said the man arrested has a “long history of committing similar crimes throughout Marin and Mill Valley.”
The man is facing shoplifting and drug-related charges, police records show. His bail was set at $50,000.
Mill Valley is about 15 miles northwest of San Francisco.
