Child’s bed was soaked in cat urine at a home with over 50 animals inside, CA cops say
A child was discovered sleeping in a closet with bedding soaked in urine at a California home with more than 50 animals inside, according to a news release from the Apple Valley Police Department.
Police initially responded to a report of a disturbance on Saturday, May 21, in the 13000 block of Cuyamaca Road in Apple Valley, according to the release. The suspect, Jeddidiah Schulz, 38, allegedly refused to return three cats that belonged to the individual who called police.
A deputy noticed a child in the living room while speaking to Schulz, as well as several cats and a strong urine odor, police said.

Upon entering the home, police discovered over 50 cats, several exotic birds, lizards, and dogs, the release said. The floor of the home was covered in wood chips that the cats used as a litter box. Police also learned the child had been sleeping in a closet with bedding “covered in urine.”
Schulz was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty and was being held on $100,000 bail, police said. The child was placed in the care of Child Family Services.
Apple Valley is about 92 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
