A school bus with 21 students on board overturned along Interstate 64 in Louisville on Tuesday, May 3, officials say.

The bus was transporting students to Noe Middle School, Meyzeek Middle School and duPont Manual High School on Monday when it crashed, a Jefferson County Public Schools spokesperson said.

Seventeen of the students were taken to local hospitals, but none of their injuries are considered life-threatening, the spokesperson said.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet called the crash a “single-vehicle crash.” The bus overturned after it hydroplaned in the rainy weather, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.

Westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near Interstate 264 are closed as a result of the crash, which occurred just before 7:30 a.m., according to Louisville Metro Emergency Services.
