Missing college senior was last seen walking on campus, Mississippi cops say
A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Jackson State University student last seen on campus, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
Kamilah Fipps, 21, was last seen around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, walking “in an unknown direction” in the 1400 block of J.R. Lynch Street on JSU’s campus, authorities said. An alert sent by the university said the college senior, who’s from Milwaukee, was last seen at her dorm.
Relatives told police that Fipps has a medical condition that may affect her judgment.
The situation meets the criteria for Mississippi’s Silver Alert status, which is “designed to help spread the message about a missing person, 18 years or older with dementia or other cognitive impairment, in hopes to locate the person as quickly as possible,” according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s website.
Fipps is described as a 5’5” Black woman weighing about 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, police said. It’s not clear what she was last seen wearing.
Anyone with information on Fipps’ whereabouts are asked to call Jackson State University Campus Police at 601-979-2580.
