Texas castle feels like a time capsule inside, but the price is very 2022. Check it out
A three-bedroom, four-bathroom estate has hit the real estate market in Dallas, Texas, for $2.5 million — and it’s guaranteed to make you feel like royalty within its kaleidoscopic walls.
It’s known as “the jewel in the crown on Tokalon,” which is the name of the street it resides on.
And yes, your eyes aren’t deceiving you: It is indeed a castle in the Lone Star State.
On the outside, the estate, which sits on one acre in a heavily wooded area, looks like it was transported from a “Dark Shadows” reboot, while the interior has the appearance of an aquarelle painting frozen in time.
The house calls back to the late 1920s, when the home was built, according to the listing on Realtor.com.
Splashes of color throughout the home’s 4,744 square feet ignite the senses in more ways than one, mainly because the house still has the original lead paint on its walls that the castle’s first owner, civil engineer Lester Lacy, approved in 1929, the New York Post said.
“The paint in the living room and entrance is original lead-based paint from the twenties,” a historic document about the house says, according to the New York Post.
“Mr. Lacy requested that we never replace it and we would not for the world. It is a restful green, the color of the new Prozac is just that color. See how fore-sighted he was?”
The castle has been owned by only two families since being built, the listing says.
After being on the market for less than two weeks, the place is listed as contingent at the time of this article.
