Someone stole a box containing human heads from a truck carrying donated human remains in Colorado, police reported.

The bizarre theft took place between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, and 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, in the 7700 block of East 23rd Avenue in Denver, police said in a news release.

Someone stole a dolly and a blue and white box marked “Exempt Human Specimen” from the parked truck, the release said. Police did not say how many heads were in the box.

The truck carried human remains donated to be studied for science, KDVR reported

“Pretty shocking,” nearby resident Isaac Fields told the station.

Police ask that anyone who finds the box discarded or abandoned call 720-913-2000. Tips on the case can be left anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
