Teen skateboarder shoved into traffic during fight, hit by Tesla, California cops say
A 15-year-old riding his skateboard got into a fight with a group of “young people” waiting at an intersection in California, police said.
He was shoved into traffic and then struck by a white Tesla in Hemet around 4:25 p.m., the police department said in a news release.
Medical responders took the teen to the hospital in critical condition, police said. He’s expected to survive.
The group of people left the area after the incident, police said.
But the 52-year-old driver of the Tesla remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He is not suspected of DUI or speeding, police said.
Authorities said they informed the nearby high school of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and police have asked anyone who may have caught the incident on their dashcam video to contact Sgt. Gabe Gomez at 951-765-2396 or email at ggomez@hemetca.gov.
Hemet is about 35 miles southeast of Riverside, in Southern California.
