Two skiers in their 60s died in separate crashes over two days at an Oregon ski resort, officials say.

A 66-year-old man died Friday, Feb. 11, after crashing on Mount Bachelor near Bend, the resort reported in a news release emailed to McClatchy News.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, a 60-year-old man died after another crash on the mountain, the release said. Both men were wearing helmets, resort officials said.

“We are heartbroken and in shock that two of our guests have tragically passed away on our mountain in the past two days,” John McLeod, president and general manager of the Mount Bachelor ski resort, said in a statement.

“We all cherish the freedom and joy we receive from time spent in the mountains, but times like this are a reminder that risk is ever present in our sport, even on the most spectacular of days,” McLeod said.

Another skier died in December after falling into a tree well at Mount Bachelor, McClatchy News reported.
