A beach...in the snow? A Colorado ski resort is making this odd occurrence a reality

A new concept is coming to the snowy mountaintop of Aspen Mountain come Presidents Day — but it won’t last forever.

It’s called “Snow Beach” and will consist of the Aspen Skiing Co. renting out private cabanas for guests to lounge around on for a couple hours in “a setting previously reserved for summer and fall activations,” a news release said. Guests will be treated with beach-themed decor and food, including black truffle pizza, housemade kettle corn and even bottle service, depending on which package the guests choose.

And while it won’t be an actual beach complete with seaside relaxation, it’s still pretty eye-catching.

The winter experience is being launched by luxury brand ASPENX, who partnered with photographer Gray Malin to bring guests this deluxe experience.

“I am thrilled to partner with ASPENX to bring my artistic vision of Snow Beach to life,” Malin, who designed the cabanas, said in a news release. “Last fall, I walked the entire stretch of South Beach, Miami studying the various beach clubs to being sketching the layout, furnishings and even the construction.”

Malin said he incorporated his own photography work as well when designing the cabanas.

“My goal was to create an immersive experience inspired by my work and pay homage to the chic apres-ski culture that Aspen has perfected. I want guests of Snow Beach to step into a whimsical Gray Malin photograph where they can take their own pictures and create their own unique memories of Aspen.”

The group package prices range from $300 to $4,800, with two-person cabanas running from $600-$1,600 and six-person cabanas ranging from $1,800-$4,800. The pop-up event will run each weekend from Feb. 18 through March 27.
