A part of Portland, Oregon, history for sale for $2.79 million in the visually stunning city has been sitting on the real estate market for a heavy day or two.
Or rather almost 300 of them.
One of the big questions is why is this ultra-chic home, with its dazzling history, taking so long to sell?
Especially since the inside of the Georgian Colonial-style home has the same augustness as the outside and offers up panoramic views of one of the most beautiful cities in the Pacific Northwest.
The six-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom was built in 1908 for City Commissioner John Annand, who hired a house builder instead of an architect to design the home, Oregon Live reported. Annand was said to have been influential when it came to the street committee and “he used his powerful position to see that structural reinforcement and grading of the main arterial passed beneath his selected home site,” the listing on Realtor.com says.
The house was restored to its glorious roots with modern upgrades in the late 1990s by Judi Heise after previous owners had fudged up the interior almost 50 years prior, according to Portland Business Journal.
“The owners of the time came in and thought their taste was superior to the original architect,” Heise told Portland Business Journal in 1999. “It was a bastardization; they made an art deco home out of a Colonial Revival style, turn-of-the-century house, and the two don’t blend well.”
