Person walking dog stumbles across skeletal remains in woods, Connecticut officials say

A person walking their dog found skeletal remains in the woods, Connecticut police said.

Remains were found Dec. 19 in a wooded area about 100 feet from a road in Harwinton, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Connecticut State Police are investigating. A detailed search of the area was also underway, police said.

The remains were recovered and will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Harwinton is about 25 miles west of Hartford.
