Driver getting out of car after I-95 crash is fatally hit by two vehicles, VA cops say

A 22-year-old was hit by two vehicles and killed while getting out of his car after a crash in Virginia, police said.

The driver, identified as Belmir Alic of Henrico, was driving a Nissan Sentra south on I-95 in Richmond just before 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, when he veered off the left side of the interstate and crashed into a Jersey wall, according to a news release from Virginia State Police.

Alic was getting out of the crashed Nissan when a driver in a Dodge Journey traveling south slammed into his car, police said, launching him into the left and center travel lanes.

He was then struck by a driver in a Hyundai Tucson, according to police. Alic died at the scene.

The Dodge driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. The driver of the Hyundai wasn’t hurt.

Police are investigating the crash. No other information had been released as of Tuesday, Dec. 21.
