Burglary victim uses wooden bat to hit man taking things from trailer, Alabama cops say
A burglary suspect was left seriously injured after the owner of the trailer he was stealing from hit him with a wooden bat in Alabama, police said.
On Monday, Nov. 8, the man and two others were taking items from a trailer on Rudder Road in Mobile when the owner confronted them with a wooden bat, according to a news release from the Mobile Police Department.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, then “reached for his rear pocket,” police said, at which point the owner hit him several times on the head and torso area.
Officers arrived shortly after 11 p.m. and found the suspect lying in the middle of the road with “an apparent head injury,” according to police.
He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said, and the two other suspects left the scene before officers arrived.
Police said they are investigating the case. No other information was available as of Thursday, Nov. 11.
Mobile is on Alabama’s Gulf Coast, about 170 miles southwest of Montgomery.
