15-year-old electrocuted by exposed wires in motel pool, Texas police say

A 15-year-old boy died after he was shocked while swimming in a motel pool in Texas over the weekend, police say.

The teen was swimming in the pool at the North Villa Inn in Houston on Saturday, KTRK reported.

Police said someone had removed an interior light from the pool, leaving wires exposed, according to the outlet.

While he was swimming, the teen touched the wires and was electrocuted, police said, KPRC reported.

The teen’s father pulled him out of the pool and paramedics performed CPR, according to KHOU.

He was transported to a local hospital where medical professionals tried to revive him, KPRC reported.

He died at the hospital.

McClatchy News contacted the motel and the person who answered the phone said no one was available for comment.
