Car splits in half in possible street racing crash, leaving driver dead, Texas cops say

A potential street racing crash in Texas left a man dead and a car split in half Wednesday night, police say.

Officials responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. where witnesses told Houston police they saw two cars speeding down the road, KTRK reported.

That’s when one witness said a red Honda Civic veered off the road before crashing into a tree, according to KHOU.

The impact of the crash caused the car to split in two, KPRC reported.

A man in his mid-20s was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the outlet.

Police do not believe the victim was wearing a seatbelt, KHOU reported, and witnesses said the driver of the other car did not stop following the crash.

Police are trying to find surveillance video of the incident to gather more information about the other driver and determine whether the crash was the result of a street race, KTRK reported.
