A drunk driver on Sesame Street? Yes, and that’s not all, Washington cops say

A drunken driver ditching his car and fleeing to the woods probably isn’t what you’d expect to see on Sesame Street.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that a DUI suspect ran into a Chevron gas station, causing “considerable damage,” along Seabeck Highway on Sunday morning, then drove to Sesame Street to abandon his car. The driver then fled to the nearby woods, police said.

A K-9 officer and his handler headed to the scene to find the driver, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said.

“K-9 Heiko wasn’t looking to play with Big Bird or Cookie Monster, but he was looking for a DUI suspect who fled into the woods,” police said in a post on Facebook.

The officers found the 34-year-old man from Silverdale intoxicated and hiding in the woods, according to police. It was the driver’s fifth DUI within 10 years, police said.

“Once again, the suspect gives up upon realizing he is no match for the four-legged deputy,” the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said. “Your K-9 allowed the suspect to be taken into custody without incident or injury to anyone.”
