Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza in disguise? Children’s restaurant tries selling pies incognito

The entertainment. The infamous ball pit. The mechanical “Elvis”with his roaming eyes and his creepy band. That giant rat.

There are so many nostalgic images that conjure up when people think of Chuck E. Cheese, the family entertainment center that so many of us loved as children.

But is its pizza one of them?

Recently, a Philadelphia Reddit user discovered that the pizza she assumed came from a local pizzeria was an undercover version of the beloved family party place. The user, u/KendallNeff, ordered from Grubhub from a restaurant called Pasqually’s Pizza and Wings in an attempt to help support local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Turns out, she was wrong.

When she received her pizza, she became suspicious and smelled a metaphorical rat.

“Just curious,” she texted her GrubHub driver. “Was this food from Chuck E. Cheese?”

“There was the Chuck E. Cheese store but the windows had the wing restaurant on them???” the driver responded. “I was curious too! It smelled good.”

A Chuck E. Cheese spokesperson attempted to clear the air.

“CEC Entertainment, Inc. recently launched Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings nationwide. The inspiration was rooted in the desire to create a premium pizza while staying true to the CEC brand,” the spokesperson told Food & Wine. “Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings, named after another favorite member of Munch’s Make Believe Band, shares kitchen space with the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, ensuring high-quality, fresh ingredients. Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings’ recipes use fresh, homemade pizza dough, just like Chuck E. Cheese, but it is a different pizza that features a thicker crust and extra sauce, giving consumers a more flavorful, more premium pizza experience.”

And of course, social media decided to sharpen their comedic chops on the juicy details.

During the entire ordeal, people were also surprised to learn (via Insider) that Chuck E., the restaurant’s mascot, even had a twisty backstory.

Well played, Chuck E., well played.
