‘Get COVID and die.’ Woman angry over drink coughs on drive-thru worker, PA cops say

A woman in Pennsylvania was arrested after coughing on a drive-thru worker Saturday morning because she didn’t like how she received her drink, police say.

The woman, 48, became upset after a drive-thru employee in Hempfield Township handed over her drink in a to-go drink carrier, The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

The employee explained that the drink holder was a precaution to help prevent psychical touching, but the woman became upset and tried to return the holder through the drive-thru window, according to the outlet

Police say the employee explained that once items leave the restaurant, they can’t re-enter, but the woman began intentionally coughing on the employee, saying, “I hope you get COVID and die,” WTAE reported.

The employee told police that she felt the woman’s spit hit her face and hands as the woman coughed, according to the outlet.

The employee was immediately sent home and will be in self-quarantine for 14 days due to potential exposure to coronavirus, WPMG reported.

The woman was arrested and faces charges of assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct, according to the outlet.

The woman’s name and the name of the restaurant have not been released.
