Teen leaves threatening note to get out of class presentations, Washington cops say
A 16-year-old Spokane student has been arrested after police said he left a note threatening a school shooting.
On Friday morning, a note stating that there was going to be a shooting was found in the bathroom at Central Valley High School, according to a post on the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Facebook account.
School Resource Deputy David Lawhorn investigated the incident and the identified student was arrested and charged with a felony count of “threats to bomb or injure property,” according to the post.
“This is NOT funny nor a way to get a day off from school or to show you can’t be dared,” the Sheriff’s Office post read. “It is a CRIME, and you will be arrested.”
The teen told police that he “came up with the idea because he didn’t want to give two class presentations during the day,” the post read. Police didn’t find any weapons or evidence that he was going to harm anyone.
Classes also were canceled at East Valley High School, also in Spokane, due to a similar threat, according to KHQ.
