Airplane passenger wearing gas mask forces American Airlines to delay flight in Texas

An American Airlines flight was delayed after a passenger boarded the plane wearing a gas mask, officials say.

A flight that was supposed to depart Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport about 7 p.m. Thursday didn’t leave until about 7:50 p.m., according to Flightstats.com. It was headed to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

A photo posted to Twitter shows the passenger going to a seat wearing the dark colored gas mask.

American Airlines responded to the passenger’s tweet, saying the company was aware of the incident and worked with local officials.

A spokesman for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport told McClatchy News an open records request was required to learn more information about whether the person was charged with a crime and motives for wearing the gas mask.
