Child sexually assaulted by a man posing as a modeling agent online, Texas police say

Texas cops have arrested a man accused of posing as a modeling agent online and sexually assaulting a child.

League City police say the child was contacted by a person through the phone app Likee, promising a chance at becoming a model, according to a news release.

Likee, which used to be LIKE Video, describes itself as a “prominent global short video creation platform, with cutting-edge special effects video shooting and editing tools.”

The child believed the person was a representative for a modeling company and provided a home address for a personal evaluation on Dec. 8, police said.

About 15 minutes later, a man showed up at the home in a dark colored passenger car and entered the home, police said. Then he sexually assaulted the child, according to police.

The police department released photos Tuesday of the suspect.

The suspect turned himself in at the police department shortly after cops posted the photos on Facebook.

Joel Christopher Acuna, 28, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, KHOU reported. Acuna lives in Texas City, KRIV reported.

“That’s me on Facebook,” Acuna told police, according to KHOU.

He was in jail on $250,000 bond, police said.

League City is about 25 miles southeast of Houston.
