4-year-old dies after dad shot himself and the boy while wrestling, Indiana cops say
A father’s gun accidentally fired while he was playing on a bed with his 4-year-old son, shooting them both in the head in Indiana, media outlets report.
The 36-year-old dad and his son had been “play wrestling” on a bed inside a home Sunday in Monroe County when the firearm went off, WISH reported. The gun was in the small of the dad’s back while they played, the Indianapolis TV station reported.
Investigators say the concealed handgun fell off the father’s body and a shot was fired, according to WXIN.
The boy died on Thursday, WISH reported.
Monroe County sheriff’s deputies rushed to the home south of Bloomington and found them both shot in the head, WRTV reported.
The father was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he was expected to survive, WTHR reported.
No charges have been filed in the case, and the investigation is ongoing, WXIN reported.
