Dog sniffs out crumbs left in Subway bag and eats the meth inside, Minnesota cops say

A family’s dog in Minnesota is fighting for its life after sniffing out crumbs in a Subway bag and eating the meth hidden inside it, police say.

The family in Chisago County, about 45 miles northeast of Minneapolis, noticed the dog was acting strangely and sick, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Wondering whether their pet had gotten into something, they went outside and found a Subway sandwich bag tossed in a ditch, police said. Inside, there were about 80 grams of meth, needles and a pipe, police said.

“Smelling the crumbs still in the bag, the dog started eating it and ingested the meth,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

The family rushed the dog to a veterinarian, but its outlook doesn’t look good, police said. The pet is not expected to survive.

“What a poison and scourge to our society this stuff is,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
