Are your teens using this anonymous chat website? Police warn that it’s a bad idea

Police in Westlake, Ohio are warning parents to be mindful of the website teen-chat.org and the dangers it poses, according to a news posted to Facebook.

The site describes itself as “the #1 source for free chat for older kids and younger teens,” WJW reports.

How do users sign-up? The site allows users to register through email, or they can sign up anonymously. While the site promotes itself to cater only to teenagers, the background photo on its Facebook page may suggest otherwise.

A screengrab posted by Westlake Police shows a user asking a sexually-explicit question to users within the chatroom. Police said the site is “not safe for any child, kid, or teen,” the release noted.

Westlake is about 12 miles west of downtown Cleveland.

Police encourage parents monitor what their children are doing on social media and teens are encouraged to beware of sharing too much personal information, Teens Health said.
