Teacher who collapsed in class full of students remembered as ‘kind-hearted’ in Texas
Students at Southside High School in San Antonio, Texas, are mourning a teacher they called ‘kind-hearted’ and an ‘amazing guy’ after he collapsed in his classroom on Tuesday and later died at a local hospital, school officials said in a news release.
A memorial service was held for 61-year-old William Carle on Thursday in the school courtyard to remember the social studies teacher who had an impact on students’ lives.
Carle was in his 26th year of teaching at the high school after previously serving as an “Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at the University of Louisville, Kentucky where he taught National Security Policy and History of U.S. Air Power,” the release noted.
Before becoming a school teacher, Carle served in the U.S. Armed Forces, specifically the Air Force, district officials said.
Superintendent of Schools Mark E. Eads mourned the longtime teacher’s passing.
“We are saddened by Mr. Carle’s passing and our prayers go out to his loved ones, his students, and fellow teachers,” he said in the release.
