Watch Misfit the police horse take a spin through Petsmart while on patrol in Louisiana

Christmas is fast approaching, so it’s no wonder this police horse in Louisiana took time out of his busy schedule to trot through Petsmart for a little holiday shopping.

Police in Slidell posted video to Facebook of Misfit, a member of the department’s mounted division, entering through the sliding glass doors and pacing the aisles with the help of Officer Robert “Mongo” Crowell.

Misfit and Crowell can be seen encountering several shoppers and employees who seem delighted to snap a photo and stroke the hardworking horse’s nose.

Misfit was mum as to who, exactly, the pair was shopping for, but fellow police horse Chesney was waiting outside in the parking lot.

The two horses and their officers have been patrolling the local shopping center to keep holiday shoppers safe during the busiest time of year, the post said.

Misfit isn’t the first animal of its size to take a spin through the Petsmart. Earlier this year, a one-humped Arabian camel named Jeffrey took his own “field trip” to a Petsmart in Michigan, McClatchy news group reported. But it was a tight fit — the hair on his hump grazed the top of the door as he entered the store.

Jeffrey’s visit was partly inspired by Oliver the steer’s trip to a Texas Petco in March. His owners took him to the store to test the company’s policy which states that all leashed pets are welcome, McClatchy reported.
