A lucky Texan could win $36.75 million during lottery jackpot drawing on Wednesday
A lucky Texan has the chance to win $36.75 million during the Lotto Texas jackpot drawing on Wednesday.
According to Lotto Texas officials, Wednesday’s prize money is the largest it’s been since May 29, 2010, when the prize was $97 million and it’s the fifth-largest lottery prize up for grabs in the world.
The last drawing took place on Aug. 29 with no winner and has allowed the prize money to balloon.
“Lotto Texas has been on quite a run this year and now our players will have a shot to play for the game’s largest jackpot prize in more than a decade,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission, in a press release.
This year, there has only been one jackpot winner, a Laredo resident who won $17.5 million for the drawing held on Jan. 15.
The last time the game had a jackpot winner of more than $30 million was for the May 16, 2018, drawing when a Houston resident won $30.25 million after purchasing a ticket at a MJ’s All Season Food Store in Houston.
Grief reminded Texans that while there’s a lot of money to win, he wants people to play responsibly.
“It only takes one ticket to win,” he said.
