Goodfellow Fund ‘a blessing’ to this family of seven
The oldest of Carla’s five daughters wrote a letter to the Goodfellow Fund asking for help for her three youngest sisters.
“Dear Goodfellow, I am translating for my mother,” the girl wrote. “Holidays have always been difficult for a family of seven. My hard-working dad has always tried and done his best to place a roof over our heads and keep food on our table. My youngest siblings are 8 and 4. They don’t understand that sometimes we can’t get everything they would like.”
The Goodfellow Fund has helped Carla and her husband at least get a few new clothes and shoes for their children for a dozen years or so. Now, only three qualify for $50 J.C. Penney gift cards.
Through another daughter, Carla told the Star-Telegram that she planned to hit the store for the pants, shirts and jackets her kids need.
“Dad struggles a lot with the mechanic’s job he has” the second daughter said. “We’re mostly OK. We just need a little help for Christmas.”
Daughter No. 1 gushed her thanks in the application letter.
“The Goodfellow fund has always been a blessing to our home,” she wrote. “We are grateful to be given the opportunity to apply for these gift cards, and we demonstrate to my siblings how wonderful and caring people can be. May God bless you all.”
Be a jolly Goodfellow
