Freezing rain, snow coming to North Texas
North Texans had better enjoy the warm weather Saturday because winter weather will return late Sunday.
After reaching the upper 60s on Friday, temperatures rose to the mid-70s Saturday. But a strong cold front will arrive Sunday, said meteorologist Jamie Gudmestad at the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.
“Tarrant County will see mostly rain, but areas to the north of here will have freezing rain,” Gudmestad said.
Forecasters say there’s a 70 percent chance of rain Sunday night, mostly after midnight.
Bridges and overpasses could see light icing.
The low is expected to be 48 on Sunday, and temperatures will be in the low 30s Monday morning.
Cloudy skies will stay around Monday, with a 30 percent chance of rain.
Snow chances appear Monday night and Tuesday, according to the weather service. Tuesday morning temperatures will be in the mid-30s.
“It would be very light snow,” Gudmestad said.
The clouds could clear out by Tuesday evening, but freezing temperatures won’t.
North Texans should wake up to a temperature of 28 degrees Wednesday morning, with mostly clear skies for the rest of that day.
