Fort Worth-founded Fuzzy’s Taco Shop opens 100th store
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop recently celebrated a milestone: Opening its 100th store.
The Fort Worth-based chain that was founded in 2001 opened its landmark store earlier this month in Oklahoma City. It also opened a location in Rockwall County and one in the Southwest Houston area.
“Hitting the 100 mark is a major milestone, considering that it all humbly began in 2003 with the purchase of that first struggling Fuzzy’s Taco Shop by TCU in Fort Worth,” Fuzzy’s Executive Vice President Mel Knight said in a news release. “From that one restaurant, we’ve built a solid, stable company with 100 units in 11 states that is continuing to grow at an accelerated pace.”
Fuzzy’s started franchising in 2009 and has spread from the Lone Star state to other states including Colorado, Florida and Oklahoma.
“Over the last year alone, we’ve brought on 20 new franchise groups who will soon be introducing our popular, family-friendly fast-casual concept to new states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Nevada, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia,” Knight said.
In July QSR named the chain as one of the 2016 Best Franchise Deals for your buck.
In February, Atlanta investment company NRD Capital Management bought 70 percent of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop to help the chain expand even more.
The chain celebrated its 100th store by publishing 100 reasons why people love Fuzzy’s.
