A “violent fugitive” accused of shooting at and beating up his ex-wife was arrested Monday morning in north Fort Worth, police reported.

Samson Billiot, 43, is also a suspect in two house fires, Officer Jimmy Pollozani, a police spokesman, said.

Authorities described Billiot as “armed and dangerous” in social media posts on Monday seeking public assistance in finding him.

About an hour after the posts went up, the Fort Worth detective working the case received a tip that Billiot was at a house in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue, near Jacksboro Highway and Northside Drive.

Officers drove by and saw Billiot standing on the front porch. They called for backup and circled back to the house and arrested him, Pollozani said.

Billiot was wanted on five felony warrants: three for deadly conduct, one for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury-family violence.

The charges stem from an incident last month. He’s accused of shooting at a house where his ex-wife was staying and then assaulting her, Pollozani said.

Billiot is a suspect in fires at two houses on Aug. 3, but no charges have been filed.

In 1998, Billiot was sentenced to 25 years in prison for hitting a woman in the face with a baseball bat outside a Fort Worth bar, according to Tarrant County court records. He was released on parole in 2013, said Robert Hurst, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
