A man was arrested after briefly fleeing police and crashing his vehicle in north Fort Worth Friday morning, Sgt. Marc Povero said.

The driver crashed near the intersection of North Beach Street and Shiver Road about 5 a.m. when police tried to stop him for driving on the wrong side of the road, Povero said.

The car began burning after officers took the driver, who was conscious after the crash, into custody, Povero said. He was transported to a hospital by Medstar for evaluation.
