Stolen pup Petey reunited with owner, and it feels so good
Petey is going home.
The 4-month-old Collie-Heeler mix was stolen on May 7, along with other items, from his family’s home on Clarke Avenue near Camp Bowie Boulevard. Owner Julia Templeton told WFAA at the time that Petey had been taken from his locked crate, and the family was heartbroken: “He is part of our family.”
On Monday, Fort Worth police detectives shared some great news: Petey has been reunited with his people. A video posted on social media shows the sweet reunion.
According to a news release, detectives and officers found Petey at a house on Columbus Avenue. As they were interviewing the homeowner and showing him a photo of the dog, Pete walked through the screen door.
Someone in the house confessed to the burglary, police said, and an arrest is pending.
Other stolen items were returned to the family as well.
The officers and detectives involved in the investigation will be recognized at the Fort Worth City Council meeting Tuesday.
