Fort Worth Zoo croc picks Seahawks to win Super Bowl
If you’re planning on making a Super Bowl bet, picking the Patriots may not be a good idea.
It has nothing to do with deflate-gate or disliking Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s stoic demeanor on the sidelines or at press conferences.
No, picking the Patriots would be risking the wrath of Salty the crocodile, who clearly favors the Seahawks.
The Fort Worth Zoo’s 1,500-pound saltwater reptile, which was imported from Australia in 2009, took a break from sunning himself Thursday to swim over and swallow a frozen chicken dangling from a rope. It was decked out in the colors of the Seattle Seahawks.
To be fair, he did come back and devour another chicken with Patriots colors a little later.
That led to plenty of jokes about the Patriots chicken looking deflated or the rope being positioned perfectly for Salty to choose the Seahawks.
Yet, if you think this is all a croc, consider this — the zoo’s animals have correctly chosen five out of the last six Super Bowl winners.
Is that enough to call your bookie or make quick trip to Las Vegas?
Ron Surratt, the zoo’s director of animal collections, thinks it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
“Hey, I would go for it,” Surratt said.
