Utah man arrested, accused of selling fake tickets at Colonial
If only life gave mulligans.
A 40-year-old Utah man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he was caught selling fake tickets at the Dean & Deluca Invitational at Colonial Country Club.
As eventual winner Jordan Speith began to drop putts en route to a final round of 65, Matthew Pease was standing by one of the entrances to Colonial, approaching people and asking if they needed tickets, police said.
Officer Daniel Segura, a Fort Worth police spokesman, said officers received information that the man may be selling counterfeit tickets and approached to investigate, leading to Pease’s arrest.
Pease was arrested for forgery/criminal simulation, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
“During the arrest, nine more fake tickets were collected as evidence,” Segura said.
Tarrant County court records indicate Pease is from Saratoga Springs, Utah.
