Woman fatally shot intervening in argument, Fort Worth police say

A 31-year-old Fort Worth woman was fatally shot Thursday in southwest Fort Worth while trying to intervene in an argument.

The shooting happened about 9:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sycamore Trace Apartments in the 7300 block of Sycamore Trace Drive.

Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said gunfire erupted during an argument between two people.

“She was attempting to calm the situation down when she was shot,” Loughman said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

Loughman said the investigation is continuing and that no arrest has been made.

“All parties involved have been identified and have been interviewed by homicide detectives,” he said.
