Fort Worth police searching for 2 sets of armed robbers
Police are asking the public to help them identify a set of armed robbers who have struck six Fort Worth stores since April 26.
They wear masks and gloves, and one carries a semiautomatic pistol, police said in a news release on Friday. They usually strike between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m
About 9:30 p.m. April 26, workers at the NV Food Mart in the 3800 block of Mansfield Highway told police two men came into the store and demanded money.
One man pointed the gun at two store employees, the report said. He took $200 out of an employee’s wallet and emptied the register of about $500 in cash, the report said. They fled on foot.
Both men wore black gloves and had pulled black nylon stockings over their faces, the report said. The employees believed both men were African-American, but because they were masked, they weren’t positive.
Police indicated a third robber was with them but did not provide a description.
Police believe the same robbers hit a Grandy’s/Chevron in the 1000 block of Bridgewood Drive on April 29; Berry Street Food Mart in the 3300 block of East Berry Street on May 5; the Lancaster Mini Mart in the 5000 block off East Lancaster Avenue on May 10; and the Nashville Food Mart in the 800 block of Nashville Avenue and the Hitching Post Market in the 5100 block of Wilbarger Street, both on Monday.
Police are still looking for a different set of three armed robbers who held up a Quick and Easy Food Store in the 100 block of North Riverside Drive about 11:45 p.m. May 14.
