A 22-year-old man is dead and his friend in jail after a disagreement at a gathering turned lethal early Thursday.

Christopher Gilley, 22, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head at 12:47 a.m. at his unincorporated Tarrant County home in the 5300 block of Oak Court, south of Kennedale.

His 22-year-old friend and neighbor, Krystian Skorpinski, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Tarrant County Jail.

Skorpinski faces a murder charge.

Chief Deputy Timothy Canas with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said the two men were among a small group of friends hanging out at Gilley’s home when a verbal argument between the two turned physical.

“We’re not certain what it was over at this time,” Canas said.

Canas said Skorpinski left the residence, retrieved a gun from his own home, then returned and shot Gilley.

Gilley died in a side yard of his residence, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Canas said Skorpinski remained on the scene and police have recovered the gun believed they believe was used in the shooting.
