Pedestrian dies after being hit by SUV on Lancaster in Fort Worth

A man died Wednesday afternoon after he was hit by a black Ford SUV on East Lancaster Avenue, according to authorities.

Kenneth Branch, 79, was pronounced dead at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth at 3:23 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

MedStar ambulances got the 911 call at 2:20 p.m. and took the man to JPS from Sargent Street and East Lancaster Avenue where he was in critical condition, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said.

Fort Worth police said the crash “appears to be an accident.”

The crash report states that the driver of the SUV had just left a blood donation center and donated plasma, which could have caused him to become ill, Fort Worth police spokesman Marc Povero said in an email.—Monica S. Nagy
