Severe storms packing 70 mph winds move into Tarrant County
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Tarrant and Parker counties until 8 p.m.
Storms packing 70 mph winds reached Tarrant County about 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Rain and large hail are expected as the storms move through the area.
Most of North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area, remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m.
The tornado risk is low with these storms but one or two could still occur.

“We still think some will make it into the Metroplex,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Dennis Cain. “The only question is how severe they will be when they get here.”
Heat was helping fuel the storms. Today’s high at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was 93 degrees. In Granbury, it reached 97 degrees.
The severe storm threat is greater for areas southwest of Fort Worth, including Granbury, Cleburne and Glen Rose. But some storms could reach the DFW area between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., forecasters say. There is a 40 percent chance of storms Tuesday afternoon and a 30 percent chance Tuesday night for Tarrant County.
This won’t be the only storm threat this week.
There will another chance of severe storms on Wednesday and Thursday.
