Fort Worth area could see more severe weather toward end of weekend
After a week of mostly sunny skies, the threat for severe storms will return toward the end of the weekend.
Thunderstorms are expected to fire up west of Fort Worth on Sunday that could creep into the area overnight. There could be a second round of storms later in the day on Monday.
Forecasters have a 20 percent chance of storms on Sunday, then a 50 percent chance Sunday night and Monday.
The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and maybe localized flash flooding.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jennifer Dunn
“This will be a typical system like we see every spring,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Jennifer Dunn. “The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and maybe localized flash flooding. There could be a tornado or two.”
But Dunn said this won’t be as widespread as some of the most recent severe weather outbreaks.
“Not everyone will be impacted and not everyone will be impacted by severe storms but everyone needs to prepared and pay attention to the weather as we get closer to Sunday night and Monday,” Dunn said.
