Police are still trying to identify a “person of interest” caught on surveillance video at a home shortly before one of the residents was fatally shot on the porch.

Homicide Detective Kyle Sullivan said investigators believe that the victim, Russell Aldridge, 46, had been selling drugs from the home in the 5100 block of Fitzhugh Avenue.

In the video, a tall, thin man with a goatee and wearing a hat walks up to the door and rings the doorbell around 1:20 a.m. April 25. He then appears to use a shirt sleeve to possibly remove fingerprints left behind.

Before the video ends, it shows Aldridge answering the door and briefly walking onto the porch.

“There were other people inside the house. They didn’t see anything. They just heard the shot,” Sullivan said.

Aldridge was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:44 a.m. from gunshots in the head and face.

Sullivan said the shooting may have occurred during a drug transaction. He said there were no indications of robbery.
