A man was fatally shot overnight and, in a separate case, a woman was found dead in a home early Monday, police said.

Authorities continued to investigate both deaths Monday.

Just before 1:30 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 5100 block of Fitzhugh Avenue in southeast Fort Worth. On arrival, police found a man in his 40s dead on a porch.

The name of the victim had not been released pending notification of relatives.

At about the same time, officers responded to a call of a deceased person in the 1000 block of Silver Spur Lane in northwest Fort Worth.

“A female was found deceased due to unknown circumstances,” Officer Brad Perez said in an email Monday. “It is still currently under investigation.”

Her name also had not been released by authorities.
