Repairs underway at major water main break in east Fort Worth
Crews worked Monday to repair a major water main break in east Fort Worth, where residents were asked to reduce water use for several hours.
No customers are without water, Fort Worth Water Department spokeswoman Mary Gugliuzza said Monday.
“They(customers) can go back to regular water use,” Gugliuzza said.
Repairs will take a day or two depending on the weather, city officials said.
Gugliuzza said she did not know what caused the break.
But she said darkness and a rainy morning made it difficult for crews to find the leak Monday morning. It was located at 7 a.m.
“We’re expecting more bad weather and I don’t know what role that will play in the repairs,” she said.
Crews also are having problems because the break is in a wooded area of east Fort Worth.
The water system began losing pressure since about 2 a.m. Monday.
For several hours Monday morning, residents who lived between Loop 820 and the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport were asked to reduce water use as much as possible, city officials said.
