Lake Worth civic volunteer sentenced to life for child sex abuse
A former member of the Lake Worth Planning and Zoning Commission was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after being convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
Armin Glenn Ingram, 72, was also sentenced to 20 years for indecency with a child, the Tarrant County district attorney’s office said Thursday. The sentences will run concurrently.
Ingram was arrested July 24 after a Lake Worth police detective investigated a report that a child was abused at a private residence more than one time during February 2013.
The Lake Worth council voted to remove Ingram from the zoning commission after his arrest, City Manager Brett McGuire said.
“The jury by its verdict ensures that Armin Ingram will never set foot in our community again,” prosecutor Ashlea Deener said. “He will never have a chance to victimize any other child.”
In 2004 when Ingram ran for the City Council, his listing in a Star-Telegram voters guide said he was retired from Lucent Technologies, where he was a systems engineer.
Continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 is a first-degree felony punishable by 25 years to life in prison.
Indecency with a child is a second-degree felony punishable by two years to 20 years.
