Star-Telegram wins APME awards

The Texas Associated Press Managing Editors presented most of its 2015 journalism awards at its annual convention Saturday, awarding a first-place prize to the Star-Telegram for business reporting along with numerous other commendations.

The first-place award was for a special watchdog report called “The Debt Trap,” which detailed ways in which Texas consumers are grappling with major debt issues. Designer Mark Hoffer was named Star Designer of the Year, and reporter Deanna Boyd’s “Moms to Monsters” special report on Munchausen syndrome won second place Star Online Report of the Year.
