Haltom City firefighters cut man from smashed pickup

A man was seriously injured when his pickup struck a telephone pole in Haltom City on Saturday night, leaving him trapped.

Haltom City firefighters needed 10 minutes to cut through the heavily damaged truck to free the man, said MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky.

The accident occurred at 3701 Haltom Road. MedStar received the call at 7:35 p.m.

“We took one patient with serious injuries to” John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Zavadsky said. “There were power lines across the vehicle when we got there.”
