Arson investigators were trying to determine the cause of a fire at a north Forth Worth business Thursday night that burned about 2,000 pallets.

No injuries were reported in the two-alarm blaze at the JC Pallet Co. near the corner of North Grove Street and East Central Avenue, a Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman said.

No one was in the business, which is a few blocks south of the Stockyards.

About 20 fire units worked the fire starting about 9 p.m. They were on the scene past midnight, putting out hot spots, spokesman Kyle Falkner said.

“When the pallets are stacked close together, it can be difficult and that’s part of why it escalated to two alarms,” Falkner said.

Several structures inside the compound were damaged but firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings and homes, Falkner said.
